  • Oba Ewuare introduced identification by tribal marks 1462
  • The first set of Enijie was installed 1463
  • Oba ozolua vs Agba war was fought 1473
  • The Idah War was fought 1516
  • Udo-Ewatto war was fought 1870

  • Esan was split into four Local Government in 1991: Esan West, Ekpoma as headquarters, Esan Central, Irrua as headquarters, Esan North East, Uromi as headquarters, Esan South East, Ubiaja as headquarters.
  • Otibhor Okhale Hospital now known as Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital was founded in 1993
  • Two Esan men ( Tony Anenih and Tom Ikimi) became the national chairmen of the two parties in the 3rd Republic 1993
  • Igueben Local Government area was created in1996.
  • Stella Obasanjo became the first lady of Nigeria 1999
  • Edo State University Ekpoma was renamed Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma 2001
  • NTA Iruekpen was founded 2001

  • College of Education Igueben was re-opened 2006
